A west Phoenix woman was shot and killed Sunday, Phoenix police said in a release on Tuesday.

Officers responded to the area of 43rd Avenue and Virginia Avenue regarding a shooting about 4:41 p.m. Oct. 26, the release said.

Once officers arrived, they located an adult female, later identified as 53-year-old Michelle Marie Semenjuk, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported Semenjuk to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
