Driver dies in Grand Rapids after crashing minivan into tree

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A man died on Tuesday, Oct. 28, after he crashed his vehicle into a tree on the city’s southwest side, Grand Rapids police said.

Officers initially responded to a 1:30 p.m. report of a hit-and-run crash near Hall Street SW and Buchanan Avenue SW.

Police said a Chrysler Town and Country minivan fled from that collision and crashed into a tree near Buchanan and Stevens Street SW, causing the minivan to roll.

The driver of the minivan, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
