The Monroe County Community College student government voted against allowing a chapter of Turning Point USA on campus on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The final vote was eight votes against, three in favor, and four abstentions. The decision made by the student government is a recommendation to the college's vice president of enrollment management and student success.

In the pre-vote discussion, one member of student government, Gage Blaisdell, said he had concerns how the parent organization my interact with professors. He brought up a past incident that happened in early October where a professor at Rutgers University left the country after reportedly receiving death threats from members of the Turning Point USA chapter on campus.
