CINCINNATI —
The Cincinnati Bengals made several roster moves as Week 9 gets underway.
On Tuesday, the team announced it released defensive tackle Mike Pennel, a veteran who won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs. Advertisement
Pennel, 34, was signed to the Bengals’ practice squad on Sept. 1 and appeared in eight games for Cincinnati this season.
He recorded 15 total tackles, one tackle for a loss and played about 25 percent of available snaps on Cincinnati’s defense.
Pennel has been behind BJ Hill, Kris Jenkins Jr. and TJ Slaton Jr. on the depth chart this season, relegating him to a reserve role for the season’s first half.
The Bengals also placed linebacker Shaka Heyward and center Matt Lee on the injured reserve list Tuesday with fibula and knee injuries, respectively.
