A semi-trailer hauling a pedestrian bridge struck an overpass in the northern Twin Cities, closing a highway for several hours.

The freak incident happened on Highway 65 in Spring Lake Park at around 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, when the semi tried to go under the County Road 10 underpass when the trailer struck the bridge deck.

The semi-truck and trailer then became disconnected, with another vehicle then striking the disconnected trailer, which was carrying a "metal pedestrian bridge."

The Minnesota State Patrol says nobody was injured in the incident, but Highway 65 was closed in both directions for several hours.

As of 4 p.m., the southbound lanes remain closed as surveying work continues on the bridge.
