The first College Football Playoff ranking comes out next week on Tuesday, Nov. 4, giving Texas Tech football fans a clearer picture of where the Red Raiders stand in their bid for the postseason's preferred destination.
The Red Raiders started this week No. 13 in both major polls , having bounced back from their only loss with a 42-0 home shutout of Oklahoma State last weekend. The CFP features a 12-team format with four teams receiving first-round byes and seeds 5 through 8 hosting seeds 9 through 12 at campus sites.
The consensus opinion among national media this week is that Texas Tech will make the field, and the Tech-Brigham Young game on Nov. 8 in Lubbock will be a major determinant — assuming this week the Red Raiders overcome their decade-plus futility against Kansas
