MADISON, Wis. -- The man accused of stalking Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Jill Karofsky pleaded not guilty Tuesday, online court records show.
Ryan Thornton, 37, allegedly sent Karofsky repeated emails over the course of several months, including some that contained insulting language and asked for her home address.
During an arraignment Tuesday, Thornton pleaded not guilty to one count of felony stalking. A judge found probable cause to bind his case over for trial.
Thornton was previously convicted for domestic abuse. According to a criminal complaint, he had fired his attorney and asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court for an extension to rebut, but was denied.
