MASSENA, New York (WWNY) - Massena officials say it’s time to put up new security cameras in the village.
There are 16 of them, and Massena Police Chief Cody Wilson says it’s another police tool.
“If people were to get into a car accident, we’d be able to find at fault,” he said.
However, many of the current cameras don’t routinely work well.
“We got the cameras in 2019, so just like any technology, a 2019 camera is a lot different than a 2025 camera,” said Wilson.
There’s a fix in the works, though. Massena leaders want to replace the current system with new cameras.
“This is the continued effort of the board to improve our emergency services and to try to make the community safer,” said Mayor Greg Paquin.
