PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A four-vehicle crash in Marion County on Sunday resulted in one death and one injury, according to Oregon State Police.
The crash took place just after 2:30 p.m. near milepost 272 in Marion County.
Investigators determined that Didier Fuentes, 26, tried to merge onto the freeway from Hwy 214 in a Chevy Silverado when it entered the path of a semi-truck. The two vehicles collided, causing the truck to "jack-knife" across the freeway and strike a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which crashed into the median, OSP said.
A woman driving a Toyota Matrix was able to avoid the involved vehicles but was "struck by debris from the wreckage," which caused her to sustain minor injuries.
Fuentes was declared dead after being taken to a local hospital.
