(WTAJ) -- As Halloween approaches, and many families will be out walking to gather as much candy as possible, PennDOT reminds drivers and trick-or-treaters to stay safe on Halloween night.

“It’s trick-or-treat season when ghouls and goblins may be roaming, so drivers can expect to see a rise in the number of walkers along area roadways,” Mike Tautin, a Community Traffic Safety Project Coordinator for the Highway Safety Network, said. “Both walkers and drivers need to be vigilant and look out for one another, especially in low-light conditions.”

According to PennDOT, there were 358 crashes in Pennsylvania during Halloween 2024, with two fatalities and 231 injuries. Twenty of those crashes were the result of impaired driving.
