RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A habitual criminal has been sentenced to 12.5 years in prison after being convicted of possessing a stolen car, falsely identifying himself as another person, and using the credit/debit card of another.
Philip Mayfield will be eligible for parole after five years.
Mayfield was arrested in November 2024 on the debit/credit card related charge. The Washoe County DA’s Office says that, while speaking to RPD officers, Mayfield opened car door, unveiling drug paraphernalia inside the car to officers.
A search uncovered multiple cards and an ID that did not belong to him.
Then, in July of this year, police came across a stolen car in a parking lot of a local casino. Mayfield and a co-defendant got out of the car and went into the casino, where they were detained.
