(CNN)– Amazon has said it would cut 14,000 corporate staffers this year.
That represents about 5% of the online retailer’s overall staff, and the company may not be done.
Amazon could reportedly cut up to 30,000 corporate jobs in all.
The mass layoff is aimed at readying the company for wide adoption of Ai technology.
Amazon noted that it would be hiring in key areas, and would prioritize those who lost their jobs for those roles.
