We are settling into a cooler fall-like pattern, though rain chances will be few and far between.

Some rain showers across northwest Illinois will be drifting westward out of the area after midnight, with clouds also thinning out overnight. That will lead to more sunshine tomorrow, with temperatures warming from the low 40s at sunrise to the mid/upper 50s in the afternoon.

Wind gusts will also be peaking in intensity Wednesday afternoon, gusting upwards of 30 mph for much of the afternoon. Those gusts will calm down after dark, with a gentle breeze holding for much of the rest of the week.
