Sydney Schertenleib struck twice for Switzerland as Scotland were denied back-to-back wins in an entertaining 4-3 friendly defeat at East End Park.

Scotland twice hit back to equalise in the first half through Kathleen McGovern and Geraldine Reuteler’s own goal after Schertenleib and Iman Beney had fired the Swiss in front.

But the hosts were made to pay for missed chances – Erin Cuthbert and Caroline Weir both hit the woodwork – as Schertenleib and Smilla Vallotto were on target in the second period before Weir’s stoppage-time consolation.

Scotland clinched their first victory in three matches under head coach Melissa Andreatta on Friday with a 2-1 friendly success in Morocco, courtesy of a spectacular 90th-minute winner from Real Madrid forward Weir.
