ELKO, Nev. (KOLO) - When you make the drive in, you’ll likely realize that it is not a typical part of the state of Nevada.

“Eastern Nevada is fantastic,” said Tracie Barnthouse of Travel Nevada. “The Lamoille Canyon scenic byway is open usually from the spring into the early fall.”

Barnthouse and her colleagues at Travel Nevada will no doubt want to highlight Lamoille Canyon, as many consider it one of most scenic areas of the state.

“I think if i boiled it down to one word… beautiful,” said Paul Brownlee of the nearby California Trail Interpretive Center.

The canyon can be found in the glacier carved Ruby Mountains of Elko County, and if you want to see it without getting out of your car, that is always an option.
