HAMPTON - Things could have gone in two different directions when the Winnacunnet High School girls soccer team lost one of its top forwards - Isla Christie - late in the first half of Tuesday's Division I first-round game against Seacoast rival Dover.
In a scoreless match, Christie, a junior, collided with Dover keeper Nora O'Malley off a Taylor Burness corner kick with 10:59 left in the first half. Christie, a Division I all-state player, was helped off the field and did not return.
Ironically, the eighth-seeded Warriors met with a mental health expert on Monday on how to cope with setbacks and staying positive when things don't go your way. That meeting with Biz Logan, a former college soccer player, and owner of Cultivating Confidence, paid immediate dividends.
