SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- He's a true American Hero and he'll be speaking in Sioux Falls next month in what's being called 'A Night With Heroes.'

Clint Romesha was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroics in Afghanistan back in 2009.

"It's hard to imagine what those guys faced," Stacy Kooistra with the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance said.

Kooistra says Romesha led the counterattack when he and his comrades were involved in a firefight with 300 Taliban insurgents.

Despite being wounded himself, Romesha continued to fight through the 12-hour battle.

Romesha wrote a book about his service called 'The Red Platoon,' and there's a movie out about it starring Clint Eastwood's son called 'The Outpost.'
