The federal government shutdown continues to keep the doors of historic Fort Vancouver closed. The closure is pinching the organization that runs the national historic site’s bookstore and hosts events there, which it now can’t do.
Friends of Fort Vancouver launched a crowdfunding campaign Monday to raise money to pay its bills.
“We’re making every effort we can to come out of the shutdown,” said Mary Rose, executive director of the Friends of Fort Vancouver.
The Friends, as the organization is affectionately known, helps with all of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site’s educational programs and sponsors the vast majority of the free public events held there.
