GLASGOW, Ky. – Before the Glasgow Fire Department was established in 1884, the city relied on a community-run bucket brigade to battle flames.
What began as a small group of volunteers has evolved into a modern department that continues to grow and serve its residents. Over the last 50 years, the city’s fire protection has made major strides, especially since the opening of its second fire station.
It’s been five decades since that expansion, a move that allowed the department to better reach and protect the community.
Chief Lucas Tinsley said today’s department stands on the hard work of those who came before them.
