The Washington Commanders ’ backs are against the wall after dropping another game on Monday night in a primetime showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota under center in place of Jayden Daniels, who was out with a hamstring injury, the Commanders struggled to find consistency. Washington entered halftime tied 7-7 but was outscored 21-0 in the second half, falling 28-7 to drop to 3-5 and into third place in the NFC East.

Despite the setback, there’s a glimmer of hope. Head coach Dan Quinn announced Tuesday that Daniels is expected to return to practice on Wednesday, a promising sign after uncertainty surrounded his Week 9 status against the Seattle Seahawks.
