A Passaic County man who gunned down a 62-year-old on a Paterson city street last year has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, authorities said.

Jimmy Mercedes, 41, of Paterson, received two state prison sentences on Tuesday — 40 years with 37.5 years of parole ineligibility and 10 years with five years of parole ineligibility, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

The sentences will be served consecutively.

Earlier this year, a jury convicted him of murder and several weapons offenses in the death of Daryle Robinson.

Robinson was shot twice near the intersection of Broadway and East 24th Street in Paterson on May 5, 2024, authorities said.

The victim died in an area hospital two days later, and Mercedes was identified as the suspect and arrested five days
