FORT WORTH, Texas — Two Fort Worth police officers said they will never forget the moments they saved a baby girl’s life after a rollover crash on westbound I-30 near Eastchase Parkway.
Both officers are fathers of three, and both said the rescue hit close to home.
Chief Eddie Garcia replayed body camera video showing the crash aftermath during a public briefing to recognize the officers involved. When the accident happened, Officer Edwin Bounds just happened to be in the same busy traffic.
“Just driving down the highway, and the accident happened directly in front of me," Bounds said. "So I watched the whole accident happen.”
Sgt. Ryan Nichols arrived moments later and learned that both the mother and her infant had been ejected.
