SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. - Piedmont Technical College broke ground on its new Saluda Center for Manufacturing Excellence on Tuesday.
The center is a 23,000-square-foot facility that will provide training for careers in welding, mechatronics and machining.
As shutdown persists, local food banks brace for higher demand
The government shutdown has reached 23 days, making it the second longest in history, with no signs of ending soon.
The center is designed to serve students in surrounding rural counties who previously had to travel long distances for this type of technical training.
