ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - When you step inside CTac, the Carilion Transfer and Communications Center, it looks like Mission Control. And that’s no exaggeration. The facility was modeled off of a NASA operations center.

“2011 we created the first integrated healthcare system operations center which really made a revolutionary step forward in how hospitals and our hospital managed flow,” explained System Senior Vice President Paul Davenport. He said since then, healthcare organizations from around the world have been touring CTaC and creating new facilities like it.

CTaC monitors operations and traffic control at Carilion Clinic and other Carilion facilities across our region. The staff also helps facilitate transfers from other hospitals or emergency situations.
