Former party leader Elizabeth Lee and backbencher Peter Cain have been suspended indefinitely from the Canberra Liberals after a party room vote.

It comes after Ms Lee and Mr Cain were informed they were temporarily suspended from the party room yesterday following their decision to cross the floor on a vote regarding the ACT Legislative Assembly's sitting calendar next year .

Ms Lee later called for a party room meeting in light of her suspension.

Today, she confirmed that both she and Mr Cain had been "suspended indefinitely" from the party room.

"Peter and I have been suspended indefinitely — until further notice," Ms Lee said in a press conference this morning.

"I still stand by my position that I exercised my right as a Liberal party backbencher.
