BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (KCTV) - For the first time in school history, Blue Springs South is fielding an all-girls Jr. ROTC Raider team. The team is comprised of 14 girls, and they are going to nationals in their first year as a unit.
“You are here to work and push yourself,” said Tangant Tuggle, a senior on the team.
Their competitions include mountain run 4Ks, cross country relays, rope bridge races, and physical team tests.
“There’s a lot of carrying around heavy stuff, like our ammo cans. They are 60 pounds apiece,” said team member, Brianna Couch. “Our water jugs, they can be anywhere from 40-50 pounds.”
The girls practice alongside the boys, who are also going to nationals. They jump over 9-foot walls, put 40-pound rucksacks through tires, and build bonds only teamwork can create.
