TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Ramen noodles, spaghetti sauce, and canned corn – food items that might seem simple, but for some, could be a game changer amid cuts to government-funded food assistance.
“When 42 million Americans are at jeopardy of losing something as essential as food, it’s the smaller things that bring us together like leaving food wherever we can to help each other,” said Izzy Collins, the owner of Izzy’s Kitchen.
With the government shutdown continuing into its 28th day, the USDA said SNAP benefits will be put on hold for the month of November due to insufficient funds.
With nearly one million Arizonans being affected, Izzy’s Kitchen is filling Little Free Libraries across Pima County with food.
