SPARTANBURG, S.C (WSPA) - The City of Spartanburg’s mayoral race is just around the corner, and the current Mayor Jerome Rice faces only one opponent as he seeks a second term.
Two men, both Spartanburg natives, told 7NEWS they’re the right choice to lead the city.
For incumbent Mayor Jerome Rice, consistency in leadership is key.
"It goes without saying there’s a certain thing about consistency and leadership in that leadership needs to continue,” Rice said.
His opponent, James A. Jones, argued that Spartanburg City Hall needs new direction.
“We need a balanced city," Jones said. "Right now, we have a city hall that’s pretty much run by developers, not by the people that the citizens elected to run city hall."
Rice was elected in 2021 after serving three terms on Spartanburg City Co
