SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The Codington County Sheriff's Office is reminding drivers to be mindful of school buses when they are stopped.
As shown in a video post on Facebook, a driver of a black pickup disregarded the stop sign of a stopped school bus and almost hit a child crossing the street. Luckily, the oldest sibling was alert and pulled the other child back before a hit could occur.
"The flashing red lights and stop sign aren't suggestions. :ives depend on you stopping so children can get on and off the bus safely," the Codington County Sheriff's Department posted. "Failing to stop for the bus is a misdemeanor, but nearly running over a kindergartner is likely to land you in jail for reckless driving."
