Lyria Bardowell Brookson, worried about her friends and family in Jamaica, expressed concern over the powerful hurricane hitting the island, describing it as possibly the strongest Jamaica has ever experienced.
Brookson was in contact with her good friend, P.J. Patterson, the former Prime Minister of Jamaica, who provided updates on the situation through FaceTime. Patterson said, "We had a long warning and most people took necessary precautions and hunkered down in their houses."
Patterson shared that the hurricane made landfall on Jamaica's southwestern coast earlier in the morning.
"It is the most dangerous hurricane we have ever experienced. It is lifting roofs of buildings, including hospitals and offices," Patterson said.
