PHILADELPHIA — Owen Pickering’s latest stint in the minors did not last long.
Now, we’ll see if the 21-year-old can stick in the NHL for good this time around.
The Penguins summoned Pickering to the NHL on Tuesday and put him in the lineup for their 3-2 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers here at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Pickering acknowledged that his performance was “up and down” in the loss to the Flyers. But the defenseman is excited about the opportunity now in front of him.
“It’s a good feeling,” said Pickering, who was Pittsburgh’s first-round pick in 2022.
Pickering played 25 games with the NHL club last season before being returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League in late January after his play fizzled out. Overall, it was a pretty solid two months for
