The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) is urging the community to donate necessities for federal aviation workers in the midst of a government shutdown, prompting the continuation of high-stress essential work, despite missed paychecks.
Tuesday marked the first time federal air traffic controllers and similar transportation employees did not receive a paycheck since the beginning of the shutdown on Oct. 1. After the vote failed on Capitol Hill for the 13th time, questions begin to loom over the future of local airline travel and the status of operations.
