WHEELING — Crumbling sidewalks and deteriorating infrastructure on the perimeter of National Road along Wheeling Hill above Fulton remain a concern for city leaders, who said they are hopeful that a potential joint project with the West Virginia Division of Highways can bring a long-awaited solution.
The sidewalk on Wheeling Hill has been closed to the public for years now, although signage alerting the public to the fact that the sidewalk is closed is no longer in place.
Several different proposals to address the situation have been offered in recent years, but nothing solid has come together to bring needed improvements to fruition.
