LAFAYETTE, Ind.(WLFI) - Tippecanoe School Corporation just keeps growing.

A new resource officer is at McCutcheon High School. Deputy Dan McDermott makes 7 SRO's in the school system.

McDermott comes from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office. He's been in the police force for several years now, but this is his first time as an SRO.

McDermott is only on his first week, but he says he's excited to build those positive relationships at McCutcheon.

"Just trying to build that bridge between law enforcement and youth. Building those positive relationships and just giving back to them. Because as I said before, they are our future, and we gotta keep them safe and give them a positive learning environment," said McDermott.
