WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Kansans stuck in Jamaica are riding out one of the most powerful hurricanes on record. KSN checked back in with a Hutchinson native on Tuesday for an update after he survived the enormous Category 5 storm.

Dr. Jarrett Cullens, a chiropractor in Hutchinson and Wichita, is staying at the Grand Palladium in Montego Bay with his wife. He says their hotel room is leaking, and the windows are rattling as Hurricane Melissa pounds the island. They lost power, and the winds made it nearly impossible to go outside.

"This is the good side of the hotel. The other side, I can't open the door anymore because the wind blows directly into it," Cullens said.
