A pre-school just over the Cambridgeshire border in Hertfordshire has been rated 'requires improvement' by Ofsted . After 14 years of 'good' or 'outstanding' judgments, staff members at High Wych Pre-School Nursery on Cutforth Road, Sawbridgeworth, said they are disappointed.

The report, which was published on Monday (October 27), said a lack of planning for purposeful activities leaves some children "disinterested". As a result, they "wander around aimlessly".

The report also states: "The provider plans a variety of experiences based on children's interests and to support all areas of learning. Staff express an understanding of children's learning needs and want them to be ready for school.
