SAN AUGUSTINE, Texas (KTRE) - The San Augustine Wolves are one win away from ending a five-year playoff drought after posting an undefeated district record this season.
The Wolves sit at 6-2 overall and remain undefeated in district play heading into Friday night’s game against Hemphill. A victory would secure their first playoff berth since 2019.
The turnaround marks a dramatic shift for a program that reached three straight state semifinals just five seasons ago. Since 2020, the Wolves have missed the playoffs in five consecutive seasons, including a winless 2022 campaign.
Head Coach Tory Barnes said the team had all the necessary pieces at the start of the season despite low external expectations.
