The San Diego Wave and Kansas City Current will represent the U.S. and the NWSL in the inaugural World Sevens Football (W7F) Americas tournament.
The event, featuring seven-player lineups, has a $5 million purse and will take place from Dec. 5-7 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Kansas City Current and San Diego Wave FC to our exhilarating 7v7 tournament, where they will compete against the top clubs from across the Americas," W7F CEO Sarah Cummins said in a news release on Tuesday.
