Drivers have been reminded that using the wrong headlights could breach the rules of the Highway Code. As the nights get darker, with the sun setting across the UK around 5pm this week, people who drive in the dark are being urged to act appropriately when it comes to their car headlights.

Rules 113 to 116 set out which lights should be used and when. The warning follows motorists' complaints about glare from oncoming headlights at night, prompting the government to re-examine car and headlamp design on UK roads.
