UPLAND — In the toughest of situations, Upland senior quarterback Becca Ewing knows to pass the ball to sophomore Leah Davis.
And it doesn’t even it matter if Davis is being double-teamed by the opposing defense,
On fourth down, Davis out-jumped two defenders at the 10-yard line to catch Ewing’s pass and ran it in for the go-ahead touchdown with 4:53 to play as Upland rallied for a 25-21 victory over El Toro in a CIF Southern Section Division 2 quarterfinal game Tuesday.
Upland (21-6) advances to play at Westlake in Saturday’s semifinals.
“It feels amazing. I’m a little tired. The adrenaline though, it just kept me going,” Davis said. “Whenever I’m out on the field, I know I have to keep pushing. I just push myself no matter how tired or exhausted I am.”
