Temperatures are dropping and only one No. 1 seed remains as the WPIAL boys soccer season reaches its pinnacle at Highmark Stadium.
Due to Riverhounds SC hosting a USL Championship playoff game on Saturday night, this year’s finals are being spread across four days, beginning Wednesday and ending on Saturday with two matches each day. Two teams in the championships — Class 2A’s Beaver and Class 1A’s Our Lady of the Sacred Heart — are hoping to hoist their first ever WPIAL trophies.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the No. 2 seed in Class 1A, has a shot at redemption when it faces off against No. 1 Bentworth in a rematch of last year’s title. The Chargers lost that match in excruciating fashion, falling in a penalty shootout.
