Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said that it has provided five marlas of land each to 511 landless persons across the Union Territory for construction of houses, while 2,568 applications under the scheme were rejected on various grounds.
In response a query, the government said that a total of 234 beneficiaries in Kashmir and 277 in Jammu division were allotted land free of cost.
Bandipora district tops the list with 109 beneficiaries, followed by Baramulla with 61 and Anantnag with 30. In the Jammu division, Rajouri records 48 allotments, Doda 68 and Kishtwar 55,while Shopian, Budgam and Ramban has no allotments, ot said.
