Labor is reportedly threatening to remove all Coalition MPs from deputy chair positions on committees in the House of Representatives after the opposition backed a motion to extend Senate Question Time by half an hour.

The motion, put forward by independent Senator David Pocock on Wednesday evening, adds five additional non-government questions to Question Time in the Upper House, which will lengthen the session well beyond its usual 60 minute runtime.

According to the Australian Financial Review, Labor has moved swiftly to enact retribution, threatening to axe Coalition MPs from roles traditionally granted to the opposition party.
