When thunder roars head indoors! Lightning is New Mexico's deadliest weather threat and since 1959 90 people have died as a result of a lightning strike. Chief Meteorologist Grant Tosterud and KRQE's Annalisa Pardo are digging deeper into the science behind lightning and thunder in this episode of Beyond the Forecast.

The pair also looks into the danger that lightning can have on New Mexicans, especially a group of hikers that survived being stuck by lightning while hiking near Jemez Springs. Tosterud will also explain a weather phenomenon called dry lightning and why the electrical buildup of charges are responsible for sparking wildfires across the Land of Enchantment.
