Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed in the neck with a broken wine glass in Southern California Tuesday night.
Officers were sent to the 1300 block of Katherine Road in Simi Valley after receiving a report of the stabbing shortly before 11:30 p.m.
The victim was found suffering from a serious neck wound and received medical aid from the responding officers, the Simi Valley Police Department said.
Authorities later determined that the suspect was the victim's sister, identified as Randy Mellin of Acton.
"Further investigation revealed that the victim had been giving Mellin a haircut inside the residence when, without provocation, Mellin broke a wine glass and stabbed the victim in the neck with the broken glass," police said.
