Dog owners looking for a safe space in Sylvania where their furry friends can run and play unleashed won’t have to search much longer.
The grand opening of Blueberry Fields Dog Park is on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3364 King Rd. near Central Avenue.
Brian Wholehan, the park’s founder, said he started developing the canine playground earlier this year so his dog, Bluey, has a place to run.
Every city he’s lived in has had a dog park, he said. When he moved to Sylvania a few years ago, there weren’t any. The nearest he could find was Glass City Dog Park in Toledo or Jake & Cooper’s Bark Park in Oregon.
A dog park, he said, is important for not only dogs, but their owners, too.
