$5,000 reward offered for info into killing of rare deer in Lancaster County

A group of people have pledged at least $5,000, so far, for information leading to the arrest of whoever shot and killed a piebald deer and tried to cut off its antlers this month in East Hempfield Township.

The buck was notable because it had a rare genetic condition that made its coat almost all white. Many people who frequented the park considered the deer special and almost a pet.

After Jim Warner, retired CEO of the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority, publicly offered $1,500 for information leading to the shooter’s arrest, other people wanted to help. Warner and his wife, whose property is surrounded by the trail property, nicknamed the deer Casper.
