The last thing Shafali Verma wanted was for an in-form Pratika Rawal to get injured. However, she believes it must have been divine intervention that led to her being thrust into the Indian playing eleven for a World Cup semi-final against Australia. Shafali was not even part of the official reserves.
Shafali was leading Haryana in the National Women’s T20 when she was urgently summoned from Surat to Mumbai after Rawal sustained a hairline fracture on her ankle while fielding in the last group league game against Bangladesh.
