ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - National Stroke Day is observed on October 29.

It’s a day that aims to raise awareness about strokes, a serious medical condition that affects millions of people worldwide.

The purpose of National Stroke Day is to educate the public about the signs and symptoms of a stroke and encourage people to recognize when it’s time to act quickly.

The symptoms and warning signs of a stroke are best remembered by ‘BE FAST.’

B is for balance. Have you lost balance or are you dizzy?

E is for eyes. Do you have blurred vision?

F is for face. Is one side of your face dropping?

A is for arms. Does either arm drift down when raised?

S is for speech. Is your speech slurred?

T is for time. If you observe any of these signs, call 911.
