It's been more than 50 years since a woman was found dead in Sumter County.
The sheriff's office on Wednesday morning said they have finally learned the identity of the woman.
Maurine Minor Rowen, or Cookie, was found on Feb. 19 1971, under the Lake Panasoffkee bridge. She had a leather belt around her neck, the sheriff's office said, and her body had been in the water for around 30 days.
Her last known address was in Tampa when she was 21 years old.
The case was called "Little Miss Panasoffkee."
Four years ago, the sheriff's office released pictures of what she may have looked like.
